The third of eight children, Pastor Wilson is a proud Southeast Washington DC native who moved to the Hampton Roads region to attend Hampton University. She graduated in 1983 and began her teaching career in the Virginia Beach Public School System, where she taught for 29 years. Throughout that time, Pastor Wilson balanced family, her career, and ministry. One of the founding members of Temple of Peace, she served in various ministries until she was licensed to preach in 1997, ordained in 2000, and called to pastor the church later that year. In December 2012, she retired from the classroom to devote herself to full-time ministry.

Pastor Wilson is married to James Rockwell Wilson, Sr., and they are the proud parents of their daughter, Willie (Bruce), their son, Jimmy, and the proud grandparents of their granddaughters, Wynter and Bryce.
